Hi guys.Happy to meet you with this interesting post.Hope you like it. Now TATA will offer AIR CARS,I MEAN...air as fuel

MDI has developed a high performance compressed air technology. When it is compared to traditional gasoline powered engines, MDI´s engine is far superior in terms of energy used and thermodynamics.

The technology that MDI vehicles use is not new, in fact it had been around for years. Compressed air technology allows for engines that are both non polluting and economical. After ten years of research and development, MDI is prepared to introduce its clean vehicles onto the market. Unlike electric or hydrogen powered vehicles, MDI vehicles are not expensive and do not have a limited driving range. MDI cars are affordable and have a performance rate that stands up to current standards. To sum it up, they are non-expensive cars that do not pollute and are easy to get around cities in.

Two technologies have been developed to meet different needs:

  • Single energy compressed air engines
  • Dual energy compressed air plus fuel engines

Tata Motors owners of Jaguar and Land Rover (JLR) which it acquired for $2.3 billion last year, is launching the two premium British brands in the Indian market later this year. Tata Motors, through its newly formed premium car division, will import Jaguar's XF and XKR and Land Rover's Discovery and Range Rover into the country. The brands, to be initially available as completely built units (CBUs) from the UK, will be available at an exclusive showroom scheduled to open by June in Mumbai.

The company has not announced the price at which it will sell these brands in India, but Tata Motors chairman Ratan Tata had said at the company's annual general meeting last year that the JLR brands will be available at a "lower price". In the UK, the all-terrain (4x4) Land Rover sells in the range of 23,000-63,000 (Rs 17-46 lakh), while the sports luxury Jaguar sells at 21,000-82,000 (Rs 15-60 lakh). The cars will attract a customs duty of 110%, making them all the more expensive in India. Rohit Suri has been appointed as the head of the premium car division and is leading plans to develop a dealer network through 2009 and 2010, the company said.

Industry experts say that JLR will find it difficult to make a mark in the Indian luxury car market, which is expected to see a decline of 14% to just over 6,000 units in 2009. The segment in India comprises global brands including Mercedes-Benz, Volvo Cars, BMW and Audi.

According to JD Power, the luxury car market fell 21% in March, as slower economic growth and lower business profits kept buyers away. Except for the BMW 3 Series, other models posted lower sales in the month. Mercedes-Benz fell 27% in March, while BMW's sales dropped 20% year-on-year. By 2016, luxury car sales are forecast to be around just 12,000 units.

David Smith, chief executive officer, JLR said, "We are delighted to be formally entering the Indian market, an economy which is still growing appreciably, and able to offer our premium products to a whole new group of customers. It is an important strategic move for JLR and will enable us to realise our competitive potential in this significant market."

Ravi Kant, managing director, Tata Motors, said, "This is a natural move for both businesses and will allow JLR to establish a strong and deserved presence in India. We are very pleased to develop our relationship with JLR in this way and to provide the opportunity for Indian customers to access their premium products for the first time."

Mr Ratan Tata on his vision and conviction - innovation & improvisation - and the giant leap of faith which rolled out 'People's Car'

Speaking about the Rs.100, 000 worth car and its conceptualization; Mr. Tata is believed to have said that it happened by chance. Here is what Mr. Tata had to say about it all!

"I was interviewed by the Financial Times [British newspaper] at the Geneva Motor Show and I talked about this future product as a low-cost-car. I was asked how much it would cost and I said about Rs1 lakh. The next day the Financial Times had a headline to the effect that the 'Tatas' are to produce a Rs 100,000 car. My immediate reaction was to issue a rebuttal, to clarify that was not exactly what I had said. Then I thought, I did say it would be around that figure, so why don't we just take that as a target. When I came back our people were aghast, but we had our goal."

At the hindsight, Mr Tata recalled how nervous he was during the launch of Indica - their company's foray in to car manufacturing - a first in its rich history.

"We were venturing into a new segment. We are again venturing into a new segment but in a product line in which we have 10 years of experience now." said Mr. Ratan Tata.

Final Words:

Tata Nano In the end, considering all things in perspective, Tata Nano will (and as last heard) definitely set up a trend of the sort and debut a manufacturing era of low cost and eco friendly automobiles.

No doubt, it is too early in the day to comment about its safety standards and environmental consequences, the car will stand up to the Tata repute of providing mobility with safety and an efficient mean of transport to match the requirements of a small middle class Indian family whose aspirations have been growing at a 'never before seen' pace to posses mobility, enhanced status and rise in self-esteem.

With only about 250,000 Nano cars to roll out of Tata stable each year, 'doubting Thomas' (traffic woes & congestion) will however be assured of the fact that this figure will only act as a drop in the ocean on ever increasing vehicles population. As for the environmental concerns, Tatas have assured of the vehicle adhering to EURO IV norms which is fair enough for a car maker to bring in latest vehicles in the markets.

For price, Indian middle class (even those considering buying a motorbike) will be swayed enough to purchase a Nano powering for even higher aspirations.

As regards road safety and decongestion, it is Indian Government's prerogative to deal such issues even as Mr Tata at a recent Nano launch press conference agreed to fund Car driving schools that may teach masses to drive in safety and under sanity.

For now, Tata's Nano car has truly taken millions on 'the flight to fancy'!

Stylish, Safety & Comfort

The design concept and interiors of the People's Car was laid out considering a typical Indian family in mind, which has a roomy passenger compartment with generous leg space and head room. It can comfortably seat four persons. Four doors with high seating position make ingress and egress easy.

Yet with a length of 3.1 meters, width of 1.5 meters and height of 1.6 meters, with adequate ground clearance, it can effortlessly man-oeuvre on busy roads in cities as well as in rural areas. Its mono-volume design, with wheels at the corners and the power-train at the rear, enables it to uniquely combine both space and manoeuvrability, which will set a new benchmark among small cars.

When launched, the car will be available in both standard and deluxe versions. Both versions will offer a wide range of body colours, and other accessories so that the car can be customized to an individual's preferences.

Fuel-Efficiency & Engine

The People's Car has a rear-wheel drive, all-aluminium, two-cylinder, 623 cc, 33 PS, multi point fuel injection petrol engine. This is the first time that a two-cylinder gasoline engine is being used in a car with single balancer shaft. The lean design strategy has helped minimize weight, which helps maximize performance per unit of energy consumed and delivers high fuel efficiency. Performance is controlled by a specially designed electronic engine management system.

Safety Norms

The People's Car's safety performance exceeds all current regulatory requirements meeting EURO IV standards. With an all sheet-metal body, it has a strong passenger compartment, with safety features such as crumple zones, intrusion-resistant doors, seat belts, strong seats and anchorages, with rear tailgate glass bonded to the body. Tubeless tyres will further enhance safety.

Environment-Friendly

The People's Car's tailpipe emission performance exceeds regulatory requirements. In terms of overall pollutants, it has a lower pollution level than two-wheelers being manufactured in India today. The high fuel efficiency also ensures that the car has low carbon dioxide emissions, thereby providing the twin benefits of an affordable transportation solution with a low carbon footprint.

BMW motorcycles are the first choice when it comes to used bikes, too. Long-lasting technology, reliable service and optimum parts supply are the rational arguments – innovative ideas, superior chassis and unmistakable engines provide the emotional appeal.

There is also a checklist which has been specially developed by BMW Motorrad ensuring that the motorcycle is inspected according to rigorous quality criteria, both in terms of technology and appearance – regardless of whether the bike is a BMW or another make. Any defects are remedied and the motorcycle’s condition is such that you can look forward to sheer riding pleasure even before the test ride. Generally speaking we can give you a warranty, too: after all, the same standard applies to used motorcycles as to new ones: absolute top quality at all times. Just what you’d expect from BMW Motorrad.

Haven’t you always wanted to own a BMW? Make your dream come true!

Powerful character for pure motorcycling joy - the new BMW R 1200 R.

This roadster is the universal talent on tarmac. A true cornering fiend on the one hand and a supremely comfortable travel companion on the other. Moreover it can be customised with a wide range of accessories to suit your every need. You can style it into a sporty, classic or touring oriented naked bike - the BMW R 1200 R will always be your reliable companion. The classy looks catch many an eye and the high-quality workmanship can be seen and felt everywhere. Typically BMW but yet different featuring proven qualities that will fascinate you over and over again - qualities that you will not want to do without once you have got to know them.

The 1200 cc flat twin contributes its share to the dynamic and supremely controlled experience generating an output of 109 bhp and 115 Nm of torque. The perfect suspension has no trouble at all with the weight of 223 kg (fully fuelled). You could load up the same again and still enjoy the almost playful and truly convincing handling of this bike. Combined with exemplary safety equipment, a timeless yet modern, high-quality and sporty design, the BMW R 1200 R is truly a multi-talented bike and an evergreen.

The BMW R 1200 R - modern power, exclusive looks and a truly classic naked bike.

The interceptor. The athlete. Aerodynamic, avant-garde. Do you know of another sporty bike with this profile? A bike that develops such pulling power with 175 bhp that it take the heat out of many a 200 bhp bike? But a bike you can still take out on a quick trip simply because it has great everyday suitability? At the same time a technological treat? The reasons: 140 Nm from 1,293 cc – and at 8,250 rpm too. With a throaty sound from a cool, hexagonal tube. With catalytic converter and exhaust valve. And with fuel consumption and exhaust emission values which would suit many a machine with half the dynamic performance.

With this jet, the whole concept of speed moves into a new dimension. This in-line 4-cylinder delivers its power in such a way that you can almost feel it when standing still. That’s because within the engine speed ranges in which you move more than 80% of the time – i.e. the lower and medium speed ranges – it delivers performance from the first yard. The real thing. And in terms of safety features, this machine is unique: ABS as standard with ASC and ESA optional. And the extras are amazing: race through the gears with the automatic shift function, pure racing in view with the 2D dashboard.

The BMW K 1300 S: supreme power with the sportiest of understatement. Why not try it out right away!

360 degrees of operating range as standard: after all, the BMW R 1200 GS is the ultimate all-round talent made to perfection – and therefore yet another example of an unstoppable BMW motorcycle.

A myth for almost three decades and an institution when it comes to travel enduro bikes. But even so, with the 2008 update the BMW Motorrad engineers have set new standards, providing absolute supremacy in all situations, not only with superior pulling power on any surface - 105 bhp at 8000 rpm – but also innovations such as the first enduro ESA(optionally available ex works).

Whether niftily tackling tree roots along the track leading to a remote holiday home or if a long distance is to be covered at speed with pillion passenger and luggage on the back – simply press a button to set the route profile and load level.

This means you are always in the right mode. With the even more ergonomical seat you sit more stably in the saddle - making playful drifting on bends or a bit of jump training off the road a welcome change.

And it also gives your own personal urge for freedom a sporty touchwhich is emphasised with striking accentuations: fuel tank side trim in high-quality steel, redesigned windshield carrier and cast iron rims, along with magnesium-coloured cylinders for an even more robust exterior.

Fine details such as white direction indicators, gold shimmering suspension fork bars and the LED rear light add elegant highlights. Powerful, dynamic colours such as Namibia Orange and Titanium Silver leave a lasting impression. Thus the legendary era is perpetuated – and all you need to do is climb up on the seat.

It is time to set forth – into a new age, on a new generation of enduro bikes. With low weight and abundant power reserves. Able to cope with real terrain as well as perform amazing banking feats on asphalt.

An enduro bike like no other BMW Motorrad has made before: an 800 cc machine with a full 85 bhp of horsepower and torque of 83 Nm weighing no more than around 200 kg! State-of-the-art engine management with highly economical fuel consumption, but abundant riding fun with powerful sound management, too: truly unstoppable! With a space frame which is not only hasa high level of torsional stiffness but also allows room for lots of other highlights such as a large airbox and fuel tank under the seat.

Fitted at the front with a 21-inch wheel which provides constant directional stability even over off-road stretches, at the rear with a full 17-inch wheel for the appropriate propulsion power – both naturally with robust spokes. The dual disc at the front and the single disc at the rear make for a breathtaking braking performance, with further safety enhancement available from the optional ABS.

The chassis isadapted to the off-road concept and has generous spring travel which can cope with the odd jump. Even though this bike is perfect when it comes off the production line: it wouldn’t be a BMW if there weren’t an extensive range of special accessories available for it – so that you can make your BMW even more individual.

This modern enduro – almost like a fun bike in its naked state – can thus be turned into an adventurous long-distance runner, not just visually but functionally too. Fuel up with a quick test ride from your BMW Motorrad dealership–then start planning your first trip!

That’s what modern high-performance sport is like on this purebred enduro: you sit on it and feel that everything is just right – the seating position, handlebars, footrests, it’s simply perfect. Then you look ahead: there’s never been a bike with a more streamlined steering head.

What geometry! Almost straight frame tubes – made of the finest steel – right down to the swing arm bearing. And there’s the next highlight: the swing arm and pinion on one shaft – or coaxial as the experts would say.

The effect is a tight chain in every situation on the road, whether the suspension is on fullrebound or compression. And that means traction at all times! And then you understand the principle of this unique construction: the distance saved between the pinion and the swing arm bearing fully benefits the swing arm length, which means even more traction! Greater length at the rear allows for a steeper fork at the front – making the machine agile but with excellent directional stability! Then there’s the engine: fuel injection, an almost straight intake tract, maximum efficiency with the most compact layout.

BMW intelligence is seen here once again: the clutch on the crankshaft, making the engine extremely short in length!

We could go on like this for pages – low centre of gravity due to fuel tank under seat, coloured mounted parts, fine quality components, compliance with EU-3 and street-legal. But why bother – when you can just sit on it, and all you will want to do is ride. And you’ll see why our engineers went to so much trouble. Get hold of your start number, because that’swhat this bike is built for. Simply unstoppable!

Tata Motors Monday said it has received 203,000 bookings with a total booking amount of Rs.2,500 crore ($502 million) for its small car Nano.

'The Tata Nano website recorded an unprecedented 30 million hits from the date of launch of the car (March 23) to the closure of the booking period which was April 25, nearly 1 million hits a day', the company said in a statement.

A total of 610,000 forms were purchased from the booking centres. About 70 percent of the 203,000 bookings received were financed, while 30 percent of the applicants booked in cash by paying fully, the statement said.

Nearly, 4,000 cash bookings were made through the company's website.

Among the three variants of the car, 20 percent bookings are for the Nano Standard, 30 percent for the Nano CX and the remaining 50 percent for the top-end Nano LX, the statement added.

U.S. automaker Chrysler LLC won interim court approval on Monday to access a $4.5 billion bankruptcy loan from the U.S. and Canadian governments, pushing it further along toward its planned sale to Italy's Fiat SPA.

Chrysler asked the U.S. Bankruptcy Court on Monday for a swift hearing into its planned sale, eliciting immediate objections from some secured lenders.

Chrysler filed for bankruptcy on Thursday, planning an emergence from court protection in as little as 30 days under the guidance of Obama administration officials. It has asked for the sale to be completed as soon as May 21.

The company plans to sell its best assets into a new company owned by its union, Fiat and the government. United Auto Workers President Ron Gettelfinger said on Monday the union's healthcare trust would expect to sell its stock interest in Chrysler as quickly as possible.

The Chrysler bankruptcy, one of the biggest U.S. public company bankruptcies ever, is widely seen as almost a dry run for a potential General Motors Corp reorganization as GM faces its own restructuring deadline on June 1.

The bankruptcy came after some secured lenders to Chrysler declined to restructure its debt at a deep discount, which made them a target for criticism, though the automaker lost $16.8 billion in 2008 and expects to lose $4.7 billion in 2009.

A lawyer representing the dissenting lenders, told a packed courtroom on Monday that some of the lenders who were publicly identified have received death threats. Those dissenters also have objected to the sale and government bankruptcy financing.

Chrysler asked Judge Arthur Gonzalez to set a hearing as soon as May 21 to approve a $2 billion sale of most of its assets out of bankruptcy that would clear the way for a merger with Fiat, according to documents filed with the court.

Gonzalez approved Chrysler's request to access the funds, known as debtor-in-possession financing, as well as requests for the company to pay essential suppliers, dealers and its taxes. Gonzalez adjourned a hearing into Chrysler's requested sale procedures until 3:30 p.m. EDT (1930 GMT) on Tuesday.

"We still have a very fragile coalition to get from here to there," Corinne Ball, Chrysler's bankruptcy lawyer, said near the start of a court hearing on Monday.

Fiat would start with a 20 percent stake in the new Chrysler, which would grow quickly to 35 percent.

Fiat Chief Executive Sergio Marchionne is expected to run the merged operations.

In court documents, Chrysler also asked the Bankruptcy Court to approve a $35 million breakup fee for Fiat if the sale deal falls apart.

The automaker has shut down all of its plants for the reorganization and the longer Chrysler lingers in Bankruptcy Court, the greater the damage to the surviving operation.

"Absent a prompt sale, approved in the coming weeks, the value of the debtors' assets will rapidly decline and the ability to achieve a going concern sale will be lost," Chrysler said in court documents supporting the sale to Fiat.

Even without an extended shutdown, Chrysler expects delays of up to six months in the launch of a redesigned Jeep Grand Cherokee for the 2011 model year. It expects the availability of replacement parts to be restricted within weeks as well.

Chrysler salaried employees are being required to take two weeks of unpaid vacation.

"I think that it is very realistic to sell assets and get that done in a very short period of time, but that won't solve the bankruptcy case entirely," Sheryl Toby, an attorney with Dykema Gossett in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, told Reuters on the sidelines of an event in New York.

Toby, who has worked on auto industry cases for 20 years, said other issues such as those surrounding dealers and suppliers will be discussed for extended periods.

Auto major Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) has received huge bookings for its multi-utility vehicle Xylo in the last three months, a top official said here Wednesday.

'In the last three months, 15,000 Xylo were booked. In the last month alone, we have sold 2,954 units,' Vivek Nayer, senior vice-president (marketing-automotive sector) of M&M, told reporters.

He was here to unveil a customised Scorpio, a sports utility vehicle (SUV) from the company, for soccer star Bhaichung Bhutia.

M&M sold 3,200 Scorpio vehicles last month, Nayer said.

Asked about the outlook for the current financial year, he said: 'It's difficult to speak about the outlook. We are looking at month-to-month performance. Current month is going fine. Let's wait and watch how the situation unfolds.'

In 2008-09, M&M has crossed 57 percent of the total utility vehicles market share in the country. In the previous year it was around 51 percent, Nayer said.

Chrysler filed for bankruptcy protection in New York on Thursday and announced an alliance with Fiat SpA that would see new small cars from the Italian automaker built in the United States.

Following are key facts on the planned alliance.

NEW COMPANY STRUCTURE

* Chrysler will ask the bankruptcy court in New York to approve the sale of substantially all of its assets to a new company.

* Pending this approval, the current Chrysler will continue normal business operations, and the U.S. Treasury and the Canadian government will provide the company with debtor-in-possession financing.

* The restructured company will assume the corporate name of Chrysler and become the owner of substantially all the Chrysler's businesses without certain debts and liabilities.

OWNERSHIP STRUCTURE

* Fiat will initially hold a 20 percent ownership stake in the new Chrysler.

* Fiat's ownership stake will increase to 35 percent in three increments as it meets the following criteria: 5 percent for bringing a 40 mpg vehicle platform to Chrysler to be produced in the United States; 5 percent for providing a fuel-efficient engine family to be produced in the United States for use in Chrysler vehicles, and 5 percent for providing Chrysler with access to its global distribution network to export Chrysler vehicles. (Each of the 5 percent increments will be held in trust until Fiat is able to claim them.)

* Fiat will be granted an option to acquire an additional 16 percent shareholding that will bring its total ownership stake to 51 percent.

* The option, exercisable from Jan. 1, 2013, until June 30, 2016, will allow Fiat to raise its shareholding to 49 percent once outstanding U.S. Treasury loans have fallen to $3 billion or less. When all U.S. government loans have been repaid, Fiat will be able to take a full 51 percent stake.

* The United Auto Workers union retiree healthcare trust, Voluntary Employee Benefit Association, will own 55 percent of the new company.

* The U.S. Treasury and the Canadian Government will collectively hold a 10 percent equity interest.

NEW BOARD

* The new Chrysler will be managed by a board consisting of nine directors, three of whom will be appointed by Fiat.

* U.S. Treasury will have the right to make the initial appointment of four directors. The union healthcare trust and the government of Canada will have the right to appoint one director, respectively.

PRODUCT TIE-UP

* Chrysler will provide Fiat with access to the North American market.

* Chrysler will use all Fiat car platforms for the production of Chrysler vehicles in North America, and certain of Fiat's other key technology, such as engine technology.

* Chrysler will participate in Fiat's purchasing and procurement programs.

* Fiat will give Chrysler access to its distribution network outside North America, particularly in countries in which Chrysler currently has a limited presence.
