An extremely deep Chandra X–ray Observatory image of a glowing region near the center of our galaxy has resolved a long-standing galactic mystery. New data indicates that this gleaming area is caused by hundreds of point like X-ray source suggesting that the glow along the plane of the Milky Way galaxy is created by millions of such sources.
